Alexander Hollaender International Course

The Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society and KU Leuven organized the 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 (17–19 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 2025), in collaboration with the BIONET Erasmus+ CBHE Consortium and was hosted by Université Euro-Méditerranéenne de Fès (Morocco).

🧬🔬Thirty participants from Ethiopia, DR Congo, Nigeria, Mauritania, Belgium, and Morocco joined a strong programme on genotoxicity, biomonitoring, and environmental health, including sessions on the exposome, human biomonitoring, genotoxicity assays, DNA repair biomarkers, scientific writing, and field research in low-income settings.

🤝🧪It was complemented by a hands-on lab session and networking activities.

👨‍🏫🎓The course was facilitated by Dr. Manosij Ghosh (KU Leuven) with expert contributions from France, Belgium, Portugal, and the USA.

✈️🏅Two travel awards, supported by the EMGS Alexander Hollaender Outreach Committee, helped ensure broader participation and reduced financial barriers for early-career scientists.
